Capture the Close-Ups!

This year, I am determined to take better holiday photos.  My track record as a photographer isn’t great.  I usually miss all the best shots and end up with a hodge-podge of lousy photos taken at whatever moments I happened to remember to pull out my camera.   This year, I am changing all of that.

Starting now, I am thinking about and planning my holiday photos.  Today, I want to share some photos I took in order to capture the details of my holiday planning.  Since our extended families are both celebrating a combined Thanksgiving and Christmas, my planning time is short this year, and now, just 10 days before Thanksgiving, preparations are well underway.

So, here is my Photography prompt for you today.  Take time to capture the details of your preparation.  Take some close-ups of the things that are part of your preparation, that might otherwise be quickly forgotten.  For example, how about your child’s hands, lovingly wrapping a present for a sibling?

Want to remember your holiday meal?  How about photographing the turkey or roast tag?

photo 3Here’s another idea: take a picture of the Christmas ornaments or the tangles of lights while they are still in their boxes and tubs.

100_8784I hope that these ideas inspire you to look through your camera lens in a whole new way this holiday season.  My plan is to create a collage of these holiday preparation photos and create a layout about getting ready for the holidays.  I hope you will join me!
