Each week, Alyssa or myself will be creating a layout using coordinating Couture Cardstock colors for the palette offered. At the end of the month, we will be supplying The Color Room RAK winner with a prize pack containing all the coordinating colors for the month of June!

I had the honor of going first and creating with this week’s palette. {Her Room} looks a bit like this:

This week’s matching Couture Cardstock papers are “Courtesan, Crush, Hush, and Snow“. I went a little artsy on it, of course, using Glimmer Mist in “Red Velvet”, “Marshmallow”, and “Bubblegum”.

The very back, background is “Courtesan”. I altered it with distress ink and acrylic paint, and before I mounted the “Hush” cardstock, I cut out the middle of “Courtesan“ to preserve for other details. I then cut the font out of this scrap, using my Cricut Expressions, outlined the letters with my signo pen, and coated with Glossy Accents to make them dimensional and shiny. (Come on, who doesn’t love shiny, ooh!) I also cut a strip of this leftover “Courtesan” and stitched it to a strip of “Crush” for the faux ribbon detail.

The “Hush” cardstock was altered using the Glimmer Mist and a border punch, and then I stitched around the edges.

For a fun detail, after adding my paint dots (created using the back-end of a paint brush) and letting them dry, I topped them with Glossy Accents as well.

Next Monday, Alyssa will be bringing you Palette #10. But in the meantime, make sure you visit us throughout the week as Nicole will bringing you a gorgeous project tomorrow and the rest of the week is filled with projects featuring our partnering company this month, Cosmo Cricket!

I started this layout about a month ago, and created this:

Then I packed it up and sent it to Heidi to finish.  Being the wonderful friend that I am, I did a few things I knew she would love, like the misted background and the fussy cutting, and a few things that I knew would… ummm… challenge her, like the strips across the layout (not really her thing, but definitely mine).   I also chose to work with the Rainy Day Monochromatic Family, since it was on my desk at that moment and I happen to love it.

So, here is how Heidi finished the layout:

Don’t you just love how Heidi finished this?  Her addition of the bright green is amazing!  And I am not sure i would have ever thought of that.  I know why she chose that title though, because we are, indeed, very much alike.  We usually think the same way about things and can pretty much figure out what the other is going to say before they say it.  I love having a friend like that!

Sometime this summer, we will be bringing you another “progressive layout.”  This time, I get to finish one that Heidi starts.  :)

The card base is Lineal, the flower and frame are Frosted Felt and the sentiment banner is Snow – all are from the White Monochromatic Family. The image was stamped on One Sheet Wonder and colored with Copic Markers.

I used Alyssa’s awesome flower tutorial. It was so fun and I just love the look of this particular style, especially with the added shimmer.

SUPPLY LIST:
Cardstock: One Sheet Wonder, White Monochromatic Family: Lineal, Frosted Felt, Snow

What is it that I love about white? It is classic. It can be paired with anything and everything. It can be bold, as in my layout below, when paired with one other color, and yet soft and almost invisible when used with a soft palette. The Couture Cardstock White Monochromatic Family is a beautiful, timeless set of papers ranging from bright white to creamy, vintage-inspired, ivory. The colors below are somewhat hard to see, but trust me when I tell you that the hues in this collection are truly the perfect whites.

Using solid black rub-ons on top of various shades from this collection, I was able to create a striking frame around the photo while still adding dimension and interest because of the different whites used. I also printed a dictionary page, that I altered in Adobe Photoshop Elements, upon Alabaster Columns. I faded the center of the dictonary page before printing, only leaving the edges to print in a distressed manner.

Color or not, I think you will agree that everyone needs a bit of white in their scrapbook stash!

I’ve used Oasis, a beautifully rich, heavy-weight textured cardstock, as my card base. Day at Sea is the lightest of the colors and the medium colored light-weight layer is Calypso. What great names!

My “Waterchild” (a self-portrait, maybe?) is a Ching-chou kuik Fantasy Collection image which was stamped on One Sheet Wonder and was so much fun to color with my Copic markers. Normally I will use 3 closely numbered shades from the same color family (like BG10, BG11, and BG13) when I color an image, but I wanted her outfit to appear watery with different depths of color. So I played around on some scratch paper and ending up using colors from a wider spectrum – BG10, BG23, BG49 with a little Y11 added. I like it!

I added some vintage lace, ribbon, buttons, rhinestones and a Prima flower. And she’s been highlighted with some Star Dust Stickles for that watery sparkle.

Onto some patterned paper, isn’t this Chic Baby Boy Collection by Teresa Collins just completely fit for a prince? I know that my own son, Jax, has me seeing royalty in a new light… particularly a blue one. (The gallery photo of our cardstock looks a tad more purple than it really is, so trust me when I say that this paper is a perfect companion to the Serenity Monochromatic Family collection!)

To achieve the appearance of a flame-like frame, I distressed the edges of both Curry Spice and Frankincense using edge punchers and scrunching by hand. I then used a combination of gesso, ink, glimmer mist, and embossing powders to highlight the rest of the embellishments. The red paper roses were made out of Couture Cardstock’s “Spitfire”, from the Seduction Monochromatic Family and “Tannenbaum” from the Vintage Christmas Collection.
